The Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates represented Egypt at the “Global Grain 2025” conference, Global Grain Geneva, in Geneva — one of the largest international conferences specializing in the grain sector. Eng. Ahmed El-Sebaey delivered a keynote speech highlighting the latest developments in the Egyptian wheat market in 2025.

Ahmed El-Sebaey, General Manager of the Egyptian Swiss Group for Pasta, Milling, and Concentrates, stated that Egypt’s wheat imports reached approximately 2 million tons in October 2025, marking the highest monthly level this year, with a 28.7% increase compared to September. This reflects the continued ability of the Egyptian market to secure strategic needs despite global market fluctuations.

Global Grain Geneva, organized by Fastmarkets, is considered one of the most important and largest global gatherings for traders of grains, oils, oilseeds, and related supply chains. The conference is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland, and is widely regarded as a benchmark event relied upon by major players in the global grain trade.

During his speech at the conference, El-Sebaey added that total imports from January to October amounted to 10.87 million tons, averaging 1.09 million tons per month, below the 2024 average of 1.22 million tons. This indicates that Egypt is expected to end 2025 with a total import decline of 15–20%, in line with increased domestic production.
