Ahmed Al-Sibai, a member of the Food Industries Export Council, said that the noticeable increase in food industry exports during the first quarter of this year was prompted by the increasing demand for basic commodities of oil, flour and pasta from many countries, most notably Sudan and Palestine, in light of the events and conflicts existing in these countries. Al-Sibai explained, in exclusive statements to Al-Dustour, that the decline in the value of the pound and the desire of companies to increase their dollar resources contributed significantly to this growth in exports.

He added that Africa plays a major role in the growth of Egyptian food industry exports, in addition to the new markets that Egypt has recently entered, and Egypt’s keenness to participate in specialized international exhibitions and trade missions, all of which contributed to achieving an increase in exports.
